Wild C.A.T.S.

Based on the Image comic book created by Jim Lee, the half-hour animated series WildC.A.T.S. was also inspired by the popularity of Marvel's X-Men. In this case, the team of superheroes consisted of a group of do-gooders with feline characteristics, comprising the "Covert Action Team" (hence the initials in the title). Under the guidance of human mentor Jacob Marlowe, the WildC.A.T.S. carried on an eons-old battle against their hereditary enemies, the alien Daemonites. Many of the episodes focused on the newest member of the team, WarBlade (who bore a passing resemblance to X-Men's popular Wolverine); other WildC.A.T.S. included the leader Spartan, female-barbarian Zealot, grumpy weapons specialist Grifter, the gigantic Maul, and the mystical Voodoo. Most of the team's assignments were determined by the female cosmic entity Void. Thirteen episodes of WildC.A.T.S. were broadcast on CBS' Saturday-morning schedule between October 1, 1994, and September 2, 1995.
