Ken Burns' inspirational two-part chronicle of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton's 50-year struggle to gain women's suffrage. Part 1 traces events from the 1848 women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, N.Y., to a disastrous split in the women's movement just after the Civil War. It also details how the pair's ceaseless efforts and complementary skills made Election Day 1920 a coed event. Anthony was the organizer-politician; Stanton the writer-philosopher. Sally Kellerman narrates.
