This series documents the history of warfare in the latter half of the 20th century, from the end of the Second World War up to the fall of the Soviet Union. After the end of the war in 1945, an iron curtain was drawn across central Europe with the continent divided between the Communist Eastern bloc and the West, led by the Americans who implement the Marshall Plan, all carried out under the threat of a nuclear Apocalypse. The Cold War continues in the 50s and 60s with proxy wars in Korea and Vietnam, the construction of the Berlin wall and when cataclysmic disaster is averted just in time with the Cuban missile crisis. The Vietnam war drags on into the 70s, when the communists win, but the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and subsequent retreat bring the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc.
