Wayne Brady Battled Depression, Says He Hit Rock Bottom This Year

Funny man Wayne Brady is almost always seen with a smile on his face. As a main player on The CW's Whose Line Is It Anyway?, his job is to make people laugh, after all. But behind that smile, Brady says he's been coping with severe depression and recently hit rock bottom this year.

Funny man Wayne Brady is almost always seen with a smile on his face. As a main player on The CW's Whose Line Is It Anyway?, his job is to make people laugh, after all. But behind that smile, Brady says he's been coping with severe depression and recently hit rock bottom this year.

"Folks think, 'Well, Wayne Brady's always happy," Brady told Entertainment Tonight. "No, I'm not always happy. Because I'm human."

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Where are they now?

The Let's Make a Deal host said, "Some days, you don't want to move, you can't move in the darkness. You're like, 'You know what, I'm just gonna sit here, and I'm gonna wallow in this. And as much as it hurts, I'm just gonna sit right here, because this is what I deserve. Because I am that horrible of a person."

Brady says he hit his low point when he had a complete breakdown on his 42nd birthday earlier this year. "I was there, by myself, in my bedroom, and I had a complete breakdown. And when I say breakdown, just go ahead and imagine for yourself a brother in his underwear, in his room, crying."

He's turning his life around, though, and says his ex-wife Mandie Taketa and the suicide of fellow comedian and idol Robin Williams helped him make a decision to improve his situation.
