TNT EXPLODES
Per the Hollywood Reporter, TNT had a dynamite year, claiming the top spot in total viewers and key demos of any cable network, fueled by the success of The Closer, the most-watched original cable series of 2005. Alas, with the Kyra Sedgwick series off the air since Sept. 5, ESPN emerged the victor in the fourth quarter, followed by a surging USA Network. "It will be a real nail-biter in 2006 between TNT and USA," one industry exec tells the trade mag.
