The Walking Dead: Is Carl Going to Die?

Things are looking a little hairy for the Grimes boy

Last month, fans of The Walking Dead got in a bit of a tizzy when William Riggs, father of Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl Grimes on AMC's survival horror show, posted a message on Facebook about his son completing his seven year contract with the show. Combined with Chandler's announcement that he had been accepted into college, fans speculated that he was leaving the show. And since people leave the show by dying, that would mean that Carl was about to be killed off.

But Carl's not going to be killed off. He's too important to the show right now. But he is in serious danger, and could soon be wishing he was dead.

Carl is about to embark on one of his most famous comics story arcs, where he stows away on a truck to the Sanctuary, pops out with a machine gun, kills a few Saviors and impresses Negan, who takes him under his wing while psychologically torturing him. It gets really dark for Carl in the books.

This is about to happen on the show. The last time we saw Carl, he was in a truck on the way to the Sanctuary with the intent to kill Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). This time, though, Jesus (Tom Payne) was with him, which could complicate things.

But in all likelihood, this storyline is going to play out like it did in the comic. Carl may come out of this in one piece, but he won't be the same.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
