The Good Fight Season 1 Will Finally Air on CBS

The Good Fight -- the CBS All Access spin-off of the beloved legal procedural The Good Wife -- will make its way to CBS proper for the first time this summer, with Season 1 getting a special limited broadcast run starting June 16, the network announced Wednesday. It's an effort to get Emmy attention for the series' recently concluded third season, as well as attract subscribers to CBS All Access.

The first two episodes will air Sunday, June 16 at 9/8c, and Episodes 3 and 4 will air on June 23 at the same time. The show will then move to 10/9c on June 30 following the Season 2 premiere of Instinct, where the remaining six episodes of Season 1 will air.

The Good Fight picks up a year after the events of The Good Wife's series finale. A financial scam has destroyed the reputation of a talented young attorney played by Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie and wiped out the personal fortune of her godmother, Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski). Forced out of her own practice, Lockhart moves to Chicago to join Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at one of the Windy City's preeminent black-owned law firms.

The Good Fight has racked up critical plaudits -- its most recent season has a very strong score of 83 on Metacritic -- but hasn't captured the zeitgeist the way The Good Wife did at times during its seven-season run. CBS is trying to get more eyeballs on Robert and Michelle King's series before it returns for Season 4 on CBS All Access next year.

All three seasons of The Good Fight are currently streaming on CBS All Access.
