The Bachelor Winter Games Ended with a Surprise Proposal

This is not how we thought this relationship would go!

The Bachelor Winter Gamesfacilitated an engagement, it just wasn't one we saw on the show. Clare Crawley and Benoit Beausejour-Savard met on the show and fell in love offscreen, but Benoit proposed to Clare during the World Tells All reunion show.

On the show, Juan Pablo's maltreated runner-up got caught in a love triangle with passionate Canadian Benoit and bossy German Christian. She chose Christian over Benoit, which turned out to be a mistake, since Benoit was super into her, while Christian was only into the way she looked, he told her in a cruel moment after she didn't get into the jacuzzi with him. The jacuzzi really was their undoing. She expressed regret for letting Benoit go.

But that wasn't the end. When she was in the hot seat, Chris Harrison said "unfortunately you left Winter Games without finding love, but you are in love." Clare explained that when she got home from filming, she had a message from a man who just wanted to know how she was doing. Chris Harrison said that that mystery man was there today, and that he should stand up and show himself. After a long moment of tension -- for a second it seemed like it was going to be Ben Higgins -- Benoit stood up and joined her on the couch.

Benoit talked about how something she said during filming stayed with him: how she thought there was more between the two of them. He wasn't ready to let her go, because he still cared about her. They talked every day and fell in love.

"I've always wanted a man that wouldn't give up on me," Clare said through tears. "You truly have changed my life, because I didn't even believe in myself. There were so many times I wanted to throw in the towel and say, 'Am I crazy for holding out for something this amazing?' And he has always had my back and he puts up with my crazy. And I just love him."

"I love you too," he said. And then he stood up and told her he fell in love with her the first time he saw her. He said that he knows things haven't been easy for her, and there will continue to be challenges. But he wants to always be facing them beside her.

"You never give up on love, and this is the best thing about you," he said. "And I will never, ever give up on you. I feel like there is someone up there that is watching us right now, and he agrees with what I'm about to do."

He then produced a Neil Lane ring and asked her to marry him. And she said yes.

It's one of the most surprising Bachelor proposals ever. Congratulations, Benoit and Clare!

Earlier in the episode, there was a fake-out where Dean got down on one knee and seemed like he was going to propose to Lesley, but really he had a key to his house in a ring box. So she can let herself in. They're in love, but they're moving at a normal, non-Bachelor pace.
