The Simpsons Get Stamped by Postal Service

The Simpsons are going postal — literally.
The long-running animated sitcom has been commemorated by a set of U.S. postal stamps in celebration of its 20 years on air. Featuring the faces of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, the collection also marks the first time a television series currently in production has received such an honor.
"We are emotionally moved by the Postal Service selecting us rather than making the lazy choice of someone who has benefited society," said executive producer James L. Brooks at the Thursday unveiling. "It's only supposed to be dead people on stamps. Somehow we were able to overcome that."
Series creator Matt Groening designed the stamps. One billion of them will be issued across the United States.
The Simpsons first hit airwaves with a Christmas episode on December 17, 1989.
