Scorsese in Negotiations to Direct HBO Pilot

Martin Scorsese may take a stroll on the boardwalk to the small-screen.The Oscar winner is in talks to direct the pilot of the upcoming HBO drama Boardwalk Empire, The Hollywood Reporter reports.Already an executive producer on the show, which details the 1920s origins of Atlantic City, Scorsese would record his first credit for drama series directing should he take hold of the reins. The 65-year-old has been a frontrunner to helm the lead-off episode since HBO gave the series the go-ahead last month; however, Scorsese’s film responsibilities may deter his TV plans.The director is currently in post-production on Shutter Island, which stars his frequent collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio and Michelle Williams.Boardwalk Empire is based on the Nelson Johnson novel of the same name and will work off a Terence Winter-penned script.
