The Los Angeles Police Department's bomb squad is investigating a potential threat of explosives near Hollywood's Dolby Theatre, the home to Sunday's Academy Awards ceremony,Varietyreports.
Officers stopped someone for reckless driving on Thursday, who then told authorities that he may have explosives in his trunk, according to an LAPD spokesperson. Police have not yet verified whether or not the vehicle does in fact contain explosives.

The bomb squad tested the possible device by shooting it with a water cannon, which caused a loud noise, according to one of the LAPD's official Twitter accounts.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Yucca Ave. and Highland Blvd., several blocks from where the Oscars will take place on Sunday.
Hollywood & Highland, the outdoor mall in which the Dolby Theatre is located, is currently closed while investigations continue.
