NCIS: Los Angelesand NCIS: New Orleansare two of CBS's most bankable and durable properties; since 2009 and 2014, respectively, the action-oriented spin-offs of the flagship series, NCIS, have been depicting men and women of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigating some of the world's most dangerous criminals. And TV Guide has confirmed they will both return for the 2020-21 television season, so rejoice!

Most Hollywood productions, including NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans, were impacted by coronavirus -- with precautionary or mandatory shelter-in-place orders putting a halt on production. As a result of production ceasing, both shows were unable to film previously written end-of-season episodes to properly close out the season. Rob Kerkovich of NCIS: New Orleans was just one of the many stars in the NCIS family who expressed regret at not being able to film episodes intended to close out the season when production shut down.

Despite not getting to end the season on ideal terms, both NCIS spin-offs and the flagship show, will get to pick up those storylines and create new ones in the season ahead. The question still remains when shows will be able to return to production as the novel coronavirus pandemic still rages on, making it unsafe for full production crews and the cast of each show to return to work. CBS will hopefully be able to provide more insight into their 2020-21 plans during their digital Upfronts presentation on May 19.
