Meredith Vieira Announces Today Exit; Ann Curry to Replace Her

Meredith Vieira announced that she's leaving the Today show in June. As expected, Ann Curry will be her replacement. "After months of personal reflection and private conversation with my family and friends, I've decided to leave Today in June," she said on Monday's broadcast.. "Time ... keeps ticking away and I want to spend more with my husband Richard and my kids Ben, Gabe and Lily."

Meredith Vieira announced that she's leaving the Today show in June. As expected, Ann Curry will be her replacement.

"After months of personal reflection and private conversation with my family and friends, I've decided to leave Today in June," she said on Monday's broadcast.. "Time ... keeps ticking away and I want to spend more with my husband Richard and my kids Ben, Gabe and Lily."

Vieira, 57, left ABC's The Viewfor Today in 2006 to replace Katie Couric, who went to CBS Evening News. Couric announced her exit from that program earlier this month.

Report: Ann Curry to replace Meredith Vieira on Today

Curry, who's been with Today since 1997, will join Matt Lauer as co-anchor of the morning program. Natalie Morales will take over for Curry as newsreader.

In a recent TVGuide.com poll, more than 60 percent of voters stated they wanted Curry to replace Vieira.

The new news team will debut in June.
