Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: What Have Bobbi and Hunter Been Up To?

Helping Fitz get to the future, apparently

We finally know how Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) made it to the future to rejoin the rest of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.Dteam, and it turns out he had help from an old friend: Hunter (Nick Blood)!

After watching his whole team disappear from the diner in last year's season finale, Fitz was immediately arrested by the military and questioned about the whereabouts of Coulson (Clark Gregg), Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and the rest of his friends. The trouble was, he genuinely had no idea, even when he quite accurately joked that they'd been abducted by aliens!

Luckily, after six months in prison trying to figure out what happened, Fitz escaped with some help from Hunter, who had gotten Fitz's coded messages (in a soccer fan magazine, how very British) and staged a daring rescue.

Hunter's return is something we've all been waiting for since he and Bobbi (Adrianne Palicki) had to say sayonara to the spy life back in Season 3. Fans had hoped their exits would make way for a spinoff series based around the two, Marvel's Most Wanted, but that dream never became a reality. Now, Palicki is a regular on Seth MacFarlane'sThe Orville, meaning Hunter had to make a solo trip for this cameo. Bobbi couldn't exactly swing by to help when she's filming in a galaxy far, far away.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD: Fitz Finally Shows Up to the Party

Hunter did confirm that he and Bobbi are still very much in love and together, even if they sometimes live separately thanks to their various mercenary jobs. Phew!

The rest of the episode was spent hunting down that bald guy from the premiere who sent the gang to the future in the first place. Once they'd tracked him down, the strange, melting stone/portal device was no longer an option for Fitz, but Enoch (Joel Stoffer) did know of another way to get Fitz where he needed to go. Unfortunately, he'd have to take the long way 'round.

Fitz opted to go into cryosleep for 70 years to catch up with the timeline and wake up safely in the future. With the help of Enoch, he woke up right on time, ready and willing to infiltrate the Kree base where the team was being held. That story won't pick up until the new year though, when Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Jan. 5th at 9/8c on ABC.
