Shia LaBeouf's mother said Monday that Shia is on the mend following a Sunday car accident and arrest on DUI suspicion. Shayna LaBeouf told

E! exclusively, "I'm at the hospital right now, he's doing fine." Mrs. LaBeouf, though reportedly emotional, also thanked fans for their support. "Thank you, thank you," she said. The

Transformers and Indiana Jones star was injured in a car crash Sunday morning and arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Per the AP, LaBeouf was trying to make a left turn at a West Hollywood intersection around 3 am when his pickup truck crashed into another vehicle. The actor's truck rolled over, causing injuries to his head, left hand and knee. (LaBeouf's female passenger and the operator of the other vehicle were not seriously injured.) "It was immediately apparent... that LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Wolf said. After being booked for misdemeanor DUI, LaBeouf was released and admitted at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, including surgery on his hand. His rep later released a statement saying, "Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred.... Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time." LaBeouf's other brushes with the law include a February citation for smoking in a no-smoking zone in Burbank, and an arrest for misdemeanor trespassing late last year following a drunken argument with guards at a Walgreens. Both charges were later dropped or dismissed. - Adam Bryant Related: " Shia Sorry for Using Anti-Gay Slur " Shia LaBeouf Comes Clean about Walgreens Arrest
