Will the new season of Jon & Kate Plus Eight address the scandal over photos of Jon Gosselin leaving a bar with another woman?
It could: TLC says the season is still shooting. Which means it's up to the Gosselins and the show's producers to decide how much to show of any talks between Jon and his often critical wife, Kate.
Season 4 ended ambiguously in March, with Jon complaining about being in the public eye after the father of 8-year-old twins and 4-year-old sextuplets was photographed with two college-aged women.
"We don't have privacy at all," he said. "If I go out, people know I go out and photograph it... That's tough for me. I can't just be Jon, I have to be Jon & Kate Plus Eight, which is a real hard thing for me."
The family opted to return for another season — debuting May 25 — and its shooting has coincided with Jon's latest photo trouble: paparazzi pics of him leaving a bar near his Pennsylvania home with a woman around 2 a.m. on April 18. He was overheard calling the woman "babe" and urged her into his car when cameras started flashing, Us Magazine reported.
"Like most people, I have male and female friends and I'm not going to end my friendships just because I'm on TV," Jon said last week in a statement to TVGuide.com. "However, being out with them late at night showed poor judgment on my part. What makes me sick is that my careless behavior has put my family in this uncomfortable position. My family is the most important thing in my life and it kills me that these allegations have hurt them."
Pat Fagan, a bouncer at the bar, backs up Jon's account: "They seemed like casual friends," he said of Jon and his female friend, adding, "There was no romantic anything. They weren't gazing into each other's eyes."
"He always has his wedding band on," Fagan told People. "He talks about his kids all the time. He loves his family."
The latest photos have fueled viewer speculation about the state of the Gosselins' union, with fans divided among those who think Jon is a cad, those who think Kate's sniping is driving him away, and those who think everyone should leave the Gosselins alone.
