Where in the galaxy far, far away is Luke Skywalker?

That's the question on the lips of Star Wars fans worried about Luke's (Mark Hamill) absence from Star Wars: The Force Awakens' poster and trailers. Original trilogy heroes Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Luke's sister Leia (Carrie Fisher), have appeared, but Luke's iconic robo-hand (and is it definitely Luke's?) may be the only glimpse fans get of the son of Vader until the movie premieres Dec. 18.

New Star Wars: The Force Awakens character posters revealed

Fortunately, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Mark Hamill will appear in The Force Awakens. "No one forgot about him!" director J.J. Abrams told EW. "We were hoping people would care, but there are a lot of things that are not on the poster, as busy as the poster is. Certainly Luke is a very important aspect of the story."

Abrams and others involved with the production won't confirm why Luke is missing from promotional material or what his role in the story will be, but Finn (John Boyega) is in possession of the lightsaber that belonged to Luke and Anakin Skywalker, last seen falling down an air shaft along with Luke's severed hand in The Empire Strikes Back. Perhaps Luke is as curious as fans are about how Finn came to possess his long-lost lightsaber?
