Who watches the Watchmen? You, on Oct. 20!

On Tuesday, HBO announced the premiere date for Damon Lindelof's reimagining of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' legendary comic series. It will land on your screens like a squid in Times Square on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 9/8c.

Set in an alternative reality 2019 where some masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws while others work as cops, the Watchmen TV series revolves around Angela Abraham (Regina King), aka Sister Knight, a masked Tulsa detective investigating a white supremacist group that's attacking police officers, though things are not necessarily what they appear to be. The series is set in the same timeline as the events of the comic, which was set in 1985, which means that Adrian Veidt has already dropped a psychic squid on Manhattan, Rorschach's journal revealed the story to the press, and Dr. Manhattan is still out there, living alone on Mars.
