Jesse Williams' New Grey's Anatomy Contract Means Jackson Is Probably Fine

Looks like Jackson isn't dead after all!

Never fear, Grey's Anatomyfans! Jesse Williams newest contract with the show means he's probably not going to wind up dead in next season's premiere.

The Season 15 finale ended on a terrifying note, as Maggie (Kelly McCreary) spent the final moments calling out Jackson's name into the ominously foggy woods with no response. He'd left the safety of their roadside car to try to find someone to help get him and Maggie back to civilization, and that was the last we saw of him. Needless to say, that twist left fans unsure whether Grey's Anatomy had just killed off its studliest doctor.

Luckily, Deadline reports that Williams has signed a new contract that extends his tenure on the show through both Seasons 16 and 17. The report does, however, allege that Williams' availability thanks to his upcoming Broadway show factored into his new deal, and he may appear in fewer episodes this year to allow him to take part in extensive rehearsal times for the play.

At least we know that Jackson didn't get struck by a car or eaten by a bear or something during his fogged out little jaunt. This contract news, doesn't however, mean that no harm befell Jackson while he was out there. As Grey's Anatomy fans well know, bad things tend to happen to doctors when they leave the hospital...

Grey's Anatomy will return this fall on Thursdays at 8/7c.
