Daredevil's Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) are everyone's favorite avocados-at-law, but in the upcoming second season, the best friends' relationship will be put to the test.

Now that Foggy's finally in-the-know, he has a hard time reconciling his law partner's side gig as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Particularly since Matt's nighttime hobby has resulted in the vigilante left battered, bloody and nearly dead on more than one occasion.

Catch up on all this week's Mega Buzz!

"Foggy loves Matt," showrunner Doug Petrie tells TVGuide.com. "He's very protective of him, but he's scared of him, and he's got to protect himself ultimately... It's like having a friend who's in the program. Like, "I'll be with you, but there's a point when your behavior is un-endorsable. And for the good of both our mental healths, I'm getting out of here.'"

Adds showrunner Marco Ramirez: "Watching the buddy comedy version of the Matt and Foggy Show might feel lovely, but it's not something in the writers' room that we ever really wanted. What we love about those two characters is ... how much they love each other, and constantly testing that friendship at every turn, and constantly getting them to a place where it almost feels like is this going to be it for these - for lack of a better term - brothers."

In summation: Don't expect Foggy Nelson to become Matt's goofy sidekick any time soon.

Daredevil returns Friday, March 18 on Netflix.
