Cynthia Nixon Opens Up About Breast Cancer Battle

Cynthia Nixon tells ABC's Good Morning America she has beaten breast cancer. Nixon, 41, was diagnosed in 2006, but kept it to herself to avoid publicity. "I had a lumpectomy and then six and a half weeks of radiation [treatment]," she said. "I didn’t really want to make it public while I was going through it. I didn’t want paparazzi at the hospital."Her mother successfully battled breast cancer 30 years ago.At the time of her diagnosis, she was starring in the Off-Broadway play The Prime of Miss Jane Brodie. "I thought, 'Oh, I don’t want this to be happening.' [But] if it's going to happen, this is the best way for it to happen, that it's found so early," Nixon said.She will be next year's official spokeswoman for the Susan G.
