Some friends come and go but the ones who stand by you, through thick and thin, are invaluable. Where would Grey's Anatomy's Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) or Cristina (Sandra Oh) be without their enduring friendship pulling each other through their darkest hours? Would Boy Meets World's Shawn (Rider Strong) have survived high school without Cory (Ben Savage) standing by him, doing everything in his power to protect his troubled best friend? If we've learned anything from TV, it's that life is hard and no one can go at it alone.

No one understands this more than The CW, which has delivered some of our favorite friendships on television. That's why we're taking a closer look at some of those special bonds, putting the spotlight on the ones that make us wish we were part of their squad. Here are the 13 CW besties who are pure friendship goals:

Lavon (Cress Williams) and Zoe (Rachel Bilson), Hart of Dixie
Moving to Blue Bell, Alabama, was a major adjustment for sassy New Yorker Zoe Hart but her transition to the south was made exponentially easier by Lavon Hayes, the charming mayor who aided the big-town doctor turned small-town practitioner with getting the townsfolk to warm up to her. Bonding over a shared love of food and their collective romantic and personal woes, the unlikely duo formed a heart-warming friendship just as lovely as the progressive town they reside in.

Team Flash, The Flash
With a penchant for rattling off impossible to understand technojargon at the speed of light while also dropping ace pop culture references, Barry (Grant Gustin), Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) make saving Central City on a constant basis look super fun. Even when they're not getting along, there's no denying the deep kindship shared between these nerdy besties who are willing to stand by each other in a way that no one else can or will. Who wouldn't want to join Team Flash?

Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Diggle (David Ramsey),Arrow
Oliver and Diggle didn't exactly hit it off from the get-go -- their first week together involved a gnarly escape from a moving vehicle -- but their partnership quickly became one of the strongest in Arrow's history. Even when they've come to blows in their disagreements (Season 6 was a rough time), there's always been a brotherhood and a respect that runs too deep to be ignored between these two. What else do you expect from a bestie who's ride or die enough to officiate your impromptu wedding on the fly?

Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) and Paula (Donna Lynne Champlin), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Paula may have enabled Rebecca's unhealthy obsession with Josh Chan but this friendship is one of our favorite things about the CW's subversive musical comedy. Even when Rebecca is coaxing Paula into one of her illegal schemes, we can't help but admire their mutual love for each other. Willing to go to great lengths to ensure the other's happiness, this dynamic duo is the very definition of sisterhood above all.

Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins), Supernatural
Sam and Dean might not be related to Castiel but that doesn't make them any less family. Willing to do whatever it takes to save each other, even at the cost of their own life, Supernatural's greatest asset is the deep bond shared by this ass-kicking trio. Through their highs, like Sam and Dean explaining porn to Cas, and their lows, like anytime one of them died, they've proven time and again that family extends beyond blood.

Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross), Maya (Golden Brooks), Lynn (Persia White) and Toni (Jill Marie Jones), Girlfriends
Made up of Joan, the unofficial den mother; Maya, the sassy housewife and mother; Lynn, the free spirit with five post-grad degrees; and Toni, the self-proclaimed cute one, this multi-faceted group of black women formed a powerful friendship that was endlessly enjoyable to watch unfold. Despite their vastly different backgrounds, they supported each other through professional highs and personal lows, and showed us what sisterhood really looks like.

Liv (Rose McIver), Ravi (Rahul Kohli) and Clive (Malcolm Goodwin), iZombie
This crime-solving trio couldn't be more different: Ravi is a nerdy medical examiner, Clive is a by-the-books police officer and Liv is, well, a zombie -- but together, they're Seattle's greatest protectors and their unwavering friendship is what makes iZombie such an enjoyable watch. Beneath the funny quips and irreverent pop culture references lies a real kinship underlined by Ravi and Clive's fierce dedication to protecting Liv's secret. No matter what, these besties have each other's back and we couldn't ask for a greater friendship.

Michael (Brett Dier) and Rogelio (Jaime Camil),Jane the Virgin
Not having much in common -- Rogelio is a telenovela star and Michael served as a police officer -- their unexpected friendship showed a different side to both characters and proved that best friends don't have to be identical clones of one another. Whether they were grabbing a coffee, getting mani-pedis or laughing at each other's jokes, the world seemed brighter whenever they were together on screen.

Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham), Gilmore Girls
This fast-talking twosome will leave your head spinning and your wheels turning with the kind of gabby banter that only they (and someone who's binge-watched the show seven times) can really understand. Underneath all the pop-culture references and witticisms though, their mother-daughter relationship is so strong because they love and understand each other in a way no one else in the world ever could. At the end of the day, don't you just wish you had someone who would attempt to make the world's largest pizza for your birthday, even if it resulted in severe cheese burns for the delivery guy/town weirdo?

Blair (Leighton Meester) and Serena (Blake Lively), Gossip Girl
Blair and Serena might have been frenemies just as often as they were best friends during Gossip Girl's six-year run, but that doesn't mean they weren't still the bestest of besties. They could be mid-deathmatch and the smallest hint of someone conspiring against Serena would send Blair on the warpath against said offender, which is when you know your BFF is definitely a BFFL. That, and she'll offer to loan you her favorite headband -- a true honor.

The Legends, DC's Legends of Tomorrow
They might not be considered heroes but this ragtag team comprised of a nerdy billionaire, a criminal arsonist, a resurrected assassin, a handsome historian and a chain-smoking warlock is the stuff of legends. Bonded over a shared desire to become something greater, these differing personalities are proof that opposites really do attract. Whether they're starting a bar fight in the '60s or combining their totems to create the giant Beebo to down an evil dragon, you can always count on this motley crew to come through for each other when they need it most. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?

Archie (KJ Apa), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse), Riverdale
This friendship is so iconic, it's literally written on the pages. CW's dark twist on the classic characters still offers up a friendship worth yearning for, as this fierce foursome uncovers unsettling secrets in their seemingly perfect small town. With Jughead and Betty poised to become the new King and Queen of the Southside Serpents, and Archie and Veronica facing hardship now that Archie's behind bars, they'll need to rely on that un more than ever. But if anyone can get through this, it's them.

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Alaric (Matthew Davis), The Vampire Diaries
It wasn't exactly love at first sight for Damon and Alaric. After all, Damon turned Alaric's wife into a vampire so there was some serious tension between these two. But after teaming up to stop Mystic Falls' numerous threats, this mismatched duo eventually formed a special bromance solidified by their shared love of drinking. It even birthed its own ship name (#DalaricForever) and proved that the Vampire Diaries' greatest loves aren't necessarily romantic.
