Brooklyn Nine-Nine Scores Early Season 7 Renewal at NBC

Brooklyn Nine-Nine seems to be settling in at NBC. After the Mike Schur cop comedy was canceled by Fox last spring, NBC picked it up for Season 6. Now the network has dished out an early renewal for Season 7.

Networks usually save renewal decisions for closer to May when it is time to decide next season's TV line-up, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been doing well at its new home. According to NBC, it's up 39 percent in ratings from this time last year on Fox, averaging a 1.4 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic and 3.9 million total viewers in Season 6. NBC also notes that the show is one of its strongest "digital performers," which means a ton of people are watching on the NBC App or via Hulu. So, thank you, comedy fans, for doing the right thing and watching good shows so we don't have go through the agony of what we went through last spring when we thought Brooklyn Nine-Nine was gone forever.

This has actually been a big month for the comedy. The early renewal comes just two weeks after the show's central couple, Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero), won TV Guide's Valentine's Day shipper contest. That might sound like nonsense to a lot of people, but they beat out other high profile fictional relationships like Olicity on Arrowand Malec from Shadowhunters. It's good news all around, folks!
