Perhaps the book isn't quite closed on the recently canceled sitcom A.P. Bio. Showrunner Mike O'Brien dropped the news on Friday that NBC pulled the plug on the series starring Glenn Howerton and Patton Oswalt in a heartfelt tweet urging fans to check out the series on Hulu. In the wake of the show's cancellation, fans took to Twitter to save the show with #SaveAPBio.

Oswalt also opened up about A.P. Bio's dismissal after two seasons, urging fans not to give up and to keep streaming the series on Hulu. "I mean, there's no better way to spend Memorial Day than binge-ing @NBCAPBio on @hulu. Who KNOWS what might happen if those numbers spiked? Whoooooo knows? #SaveAPBio #BingeBioOnHulu" he wrote.

How a Canceled Show Comes Back From the Dead

O'Brien shared a Deadline article which confirmed that while many didn't watch the show live, a good portion of its audience streamed the show later. "Even this nice article quotes our NIGHT OF numbers and not dvr/streaming (how most people watch tv now days and the argument for a streaming site to make serious money off the millions we'd bring!) Sorry our fans don't watch it live! Doesn't mean we don't have fans. #SaveAPBio," O Brien said.

Howerton also jumped on the #SaveAPBio train, tweeting, "Keep tweeting #SaveAPBio. This show has been a huge hit on @Hulu."

Less than stellar live ratings despite huge streaming numbers is what led to Fox canceling Brooklyn Nine-Nine before NBC to swooped in at the last hour to renew the show for a sixth (and now seventh) season. Hulu also picked up The Mindy Project in 2015, with the former Fox comedy running for an addition three seasons on the streaming service. Similar campaigns have worked for other shows like Designated SurvivorandLucifer, which were both resurrected by Netflix, so it's possible Hulu might want to jump in and snag A.P. Bio for a third season if the streaming numbers are high enough.

Of course, there's also precedent that NBC might reverse its decision. The network called it quits on the time-traveling drama Timeless after Season 1 and went back on its decision amid fan outcry. The series was canceled a second a time last December but gave fans proper closure with a two-hour movie.

No word yet on whether A.P. Bio will receive a second chance like its predecessors but given the outport of support in the recent days, it stands a pretty good shot of at least being reconsidered.
