I wonder if the job description for the role of new boss at S.H.I.E.L.D. included "Experience fighting dinosaurs a plus." Former Terra Novastar Jason O'Mara has joined ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the new director of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team, TV Line reports.

When the third season of the superhero series came to a close, the story jumped six months into the future, with Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Mack (Henry Simmons) still after Daisy (Chloe Bennet). After Coulson was removed from the position of S.H.I.E.L.D. director, there was news that there was a new boss at S.H.I.E.L.D., which will be O'Mara's character. The only description of his character is that his "Marvel roots go back to the 1940s," so get out your Marvel handbook and begin speculating.

"Bringing Jason into the mix as the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. forces everyone, particularly Coulson, to reevaluate their role in the Agency," said Marvel's Jeph Loeb. "Jason has both the physical presence and acting dynamics that will connect with and challenge even the most loyal agent."

O'Mara recently starred in USA's Complications and played an arc on CBS's The Good Wife. The S.H.I.E.L.D. casting will be a bit of treason from the D.C. Comics universe for O'Mara, as he voiced Batman for D.C.'s original animated movies.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 10/9c on ABC.
