A Discovery of Witches is headed to BBC America and AMC after its impressive run on Sundance Now and Shudder, which means it's time for a whole new influx of viewers to know and love Matthew (Matthew Goode) and Diana's (Teresa Palmer) story.

To help you get acquainted with this bonkers world of witches, vampires, and daemons, AMC has gifted us with a comprehensive character guide. In the exclusive video, not only will you get a firsthand introduction to Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont from Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode themselves, but you'll also get insider knowledge on the characters' friends and family from the rest of cast.

Palmer explains that while Diana is a powerful witch in her own right, she's pushed her magic away all her life thanks to tragedies in her past. "Her parents were both witches and very powerful ones. She was told that her parents were murdered by humans, so she wants to hide from being a witch and try and blend in to society," Palmer says.

We've also got some insider info from Matthew Goode about the dashing vampire she eventually finds herself entangled with. "When he first meets her, his only consideration is the Book of Life. That's his main goal... Obviously his opinion of witches is not spectacular because of the wars that they've had. I think if given the chance, he'd just like to eat her," Goode jokes of Matthew's original motives for tracking down Diana.

This little meet and greet has all the answers you'll need about who the power players are in A Discovery of Witches, and which enemies you should definitely keep an eye on!

A Discovery of Witches premieres Sunday, April 7 at 9/8c on BBC America and AMC.
