You Can't Ration Love Reviews

The inane basis for this weak musical was having college girls being forced to ration their dates because of the unavailability of eligible men in wartime America. Suddenly the biggest wimp on campus becomes a stud when Rhodes decides to date him as part of a joke. She helps to bring out the ladies' man lurking underneath Johnston's nerdish exterior, and the first thing you know, every girl on campus starts to fall for him. Songs and musical numbers include: "Love Is This" (Jerry Seelen, Lester Lee, sung by Johnston, Lee), "Ooh-Ah-Oh," "Look What You Did to Me" (Seelen, Lee, sung by Johnston), "How Did It Happen?" (Seelen, Lee, sung by Wilson, Davis, with acrobatic dancing by Dupree and Forsythe), "Louise" (Leo Robin, Richard A. Whiting, sung by Rhodes, Johnston), "Nothing Can Replace a Man," (sung by Rhodes). The D'Artega All-Girl Orchestra performs a medley of three numbers: "I Don't Want to Walk Without You" (Frank Loesser, Jule Styne), "Oodles of Noodles" (Jimmy Dorsey), and "One O'Clock Jump" (Count Basie, Harry James).
