Wholly Moses! Reviews

Dudley Moore is Herschel, a charlatan prophet back in the days of the Old Testament who hears Moses and is inspired by God's words. Centuries later a pair of tourists in the Middle East, Harvey and Zoe (Moore again and Laraine Newman) find the long-missing "Book of Herschel," which recounts, in flashback, the terrible existence of Herschel's slave father (James Coco) and the story of Herschel's conversion. Richard Pryor is the Egyptian pharaoh, and several TV and film stars make cameo appearances. The direction by first-time director Gary Weis is flat, and the script by Guy Thomas is uninspired.
