Uninvited Guest Reviews

Reviewed By: Buzz McClain

It's an all African-American cast, but audiences of all colors should find this sexy, mind-bending little indie an ambitious and well-crafted B-movie. Actually, The Uninvited Guest is a nostalgic throwback to the wolf-in-sheep's-clothing genre of the late '80s and early '90s -- think The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Unlawful Entry, and The Baby Sitter -- and it's not a bad effort at that. The production values are studio-quality and the performances, if a bit over-rehearsed, are engaging enough for what's going on here: nervous flirtation and smooth-talking seduction shifting into high hysteria and murderous mayhem. On the downside, the fiendish twist comes too soon in the story and takes too long to resolve, and the false-bottom ending borders on silly. Still, The Uninvited Guest gets a qualified welcome.
