Torchy and her detective boyfriend are hot on the trail of fleeing bank robbers aboard an ocean liner crossing the Panama Canal. Fifth in the long-running mystery/ adventure film series featuring fictional reporter Torchy Blane.

After a New York City bank robbery in which a teller is killed, reporter Lane follows her clues all the way to Panama. She manages to get onto an ocean liner while it's at sea, which is no small feat in itself. Once on board, she is able to finger the guilty party. The fifth in the series, this picture has Lane and Kelly taking over for Glenda Farrell and Barton MacLane. The regulars were back, however, by TORCHY GETS HER MAN, but not for long.
