The Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap Reviews

A fairly inventive idea has the comedy team poking fun at western heroes, with Costello cast as a traveling salesman who accidentally becomes involved in killing a man. According to the law of the land, if someone kills another man, he is responsible for the welfare of the surviving family. In this case the widow placed under Costello's care is pretty distasteful, with a whole slew of kids to boot. Naturally, this makes the little comedian untouchable in the eyes of the rest of the men in town, since they want no part of the widow and her brood. Costello lets newfound power quickly go to his head, allowing himself to be appointed sheriff, and even cleaning the town of its lower elements. Plot is good, though Bud and Lou rely too much on their usual antics.
