Ex-cop Keach is called upon to assist with the kidnaping case of his former wife, White, now married to a hot-shot executive. While trying to perform heroics, Keach is also trying to control his drinking, with which he is helped by Starr, an ex-hood Keach took an affectionate interest in. Performers are given little in the way of material to bring their characters above stereotypes, making for pretty predictable going. The exceptional asset is the seedy atmosphere.
