The Spectre of Edgar Allan Poe Reviews

This disappointing low-budgeter purportedly details Edgar Allan Poe's traumatic romance with his great love, Lenore. Grover plays Lenore, who, after almost being buried alive, goes insane and must be put in a mental institution run by the mysterious Romero. Poe (Walker, Jr.) has misgivings about leaving his love in the institution after a series of bloody killings. Upon investigating, he discovers a basement torture chamber complete with a snake pit and other charming devices. It is revealed that Romero's wife, Ohmart, is homicidally insane, and it is she who is hacking up inmates and visitors alike. Although THE SPECTRE OF EDGAR ALLAN POE has virtually nothing to do with the facts of Poe's life, this could have been an intriguing little "what if?" entry had it been handled with more aplomb. As it is, however, the film is woefully dull, and most of the key players are miscast.
