The Secret of Madame Blanche Reviews

Another reworking of the well-trod MADAME X territory starring Dunne as the outcast widow of Holmes, who committed suicide after his father, Atwill, wouldn't approve his marriage to a showgirl. Dunne gives birth to a son, but they are separated. Walton is the grown-up son who is ignorant of his mother's identity until he commits a murder and she shows up to take the rap for him. The film encompasses a time span from the 1890s until WW I and is given a decent production, but the material is all too familiar and stale despite a fine cast. The film does give Dunne an opportunity to sing a few tunes, which may, for some, be a mixed blessing.
