The Mad Room Reviews

A remake of LADIES IN RETIREMENT, Stevens is the companion of wealthy widow Winters and is about to marry Winters' stepson, Ward. When Stevens learns that her teenage brother and sister are about to be released from a mental institution where they were put after being suspected of killing their parents (it was never proved), she asks the reluctant Winters to take them in. (Winters does not know about their past.) Soon after, Winters discovers the truth about the pair; then she is found hacked to death. The children suspect each other, and Stevens buries Winters' body in the back yard. When the family dog appears carrying one of Winters' severed hands in its mouth, Stevens (the killer all along) goes completely berserk and butchers the dog in the basement, much to the horror of Ward, who had no idea he was about to marry a psychopath.
