In this clever British satire on the Hollywood star system, Niven plays a top-ranking studio star, who, in a publicity stunt, is being raffled off for a week. When Niven ironically remarks that a week is not enough, make it life, the press takes him seriously. In an attempt to get out of the mess, he runs to London but finds hordes of fans waiting there. He finally winds up at Lake Como, but still cannot find peace. All the while he has the continual nightmare of having to deal with a bobbysoxer fan. The performances are adequate, and there is some beautiful color photography of Lake Como.
