Richard Gere is a fascinating portrait in brazen panache as disgraced author and con artist Clifford Irving, who tricked the public in the early 1970s by claiming to have written an "authorized" biography of eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes. Marcia Gay Harden is excellent as Irving's misguided wife, and Alfred Molina gives a captivating performance as the author's right-hand man, who's fully aware that Irving has something up his sleeve. Directed by Lasse Hallstrom. Julie Delpy, Hope Davis.
