Slapstick comedy in which a street cleaner strives to succeed as a door-to-door salesman in order to win his sweetheart's hand in marriage. Before long he becomes a suspect in a murder and must clear his name.

Red Skelton is at his best in this slapstick tale of a Fuller Brush salesman mixed up in a murder mystery. With Blair, Skelton tries a little sleuthing to clear himself of the crime. They follow the clues to a war surplus warehouse where the final scene is thoroughly madcap, ranking with the early Mack Sennett silents. Coscripted by Frank Tashlin (THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT and WILL SUCCESS SPOIL ROCK HUNTER?), one of Hollywood's most gifted comic directors.
