The Crash Reviews

A boring film about a stupid woman, with Ruth Chatterton as the dolt of a female. At the beginning of the film, she is supported in luxury by her doting husband, Brent, who plays the market on tips Chatterton gets from her rich lover. She tires of the lover and makes up a false stock market tip, prompting her husband to invest heavily. When the market crashes, Chatterton takes the remainder of her husband's money, and heads for Bermuda. There she meets a rich Australian who wants to marry her. Her husband in the meantime has made back most of his wealth by blackmailing Chatterton's rich ex-lover. She leaves the Australian, goes back to her husband, and tears up the blackmail check, for reasons that are vague. This film was made on the tail of Chatterton's divorce from one husband and her marriage to Brent.
