Story focuses on carouser Reed's obsession with deflowering the innocent Mills. She is a naive teacher who moves into a London suburb and becomes friends with Sherman, who is dating Reed. Reed is attracted to Mills, but he gets nowhere with her. At Harrison's party, Mills becomes convinced that Reed is sincere, and they agree to rendezvous the following Saturday. But before the day arrives, Mills bumps into Harrison, who tells Mills that Reed has told him of the couple's plan. She decides to sleep with Harrison instead of Reed, who catches them in bed together.
