Sweetheart of the Fleet Reviews

Davis plays an agent for an ad agency which comes up with a scheme to promote a "Blind Date" service. This includes having two popular singers appear in a USO show for the Navy. No one knows what these two girls look like--and for good reason: they are really ugly. Davis comes up with the plan to have two attractive models lip syncing while the singers sing from behind stage. Her plan almost backfires when the singers meet a couple of sailors and decide to elope with them. Mild entertainment that depends heavily upon the comic talents of Davis who comes through, for the most part. Songs include: "I Surrender Dear" (Harry Barris, Gordon Clifford), "We Did It Before and We Can Do It Again," "All Over the Place" (Charles Tobias, Cliff Friend), and "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."
