Square Shoulders Reviews

An early partial talkie which stars Wolheim as a man who left his family behind to become a tramp. But his guilt creeps up on him, and he is determined to help his boy get ahead in life. He pulls off a robbery that requires doublecrossing his crooked pals. With the money, Wolheim anonymously enlists the boy, Coghlan, in a military school, with the father getting a job at the same school as a stable worker. But the tramps who had the wool pulled over their eyes come looking for Wolheim, with the latter winding up dead in an attempt to protect the school from his old friends. Coghlan never learns the true identity of his father. A bit heavy on the sentiment but an otherwise good human interest story.
