Spook Busters Reviews

Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis didn't come up with the idea for their popular mega-hit GHOSTBUSTERS (1984) on their own--they borrowed it from the Bowery Boys. Gorcey, Hall and company go to school to learn how to be exterminators, and their first assignment brings them to a haunted mansion filled with ghosts that must be eliminated. Not only are ghosts in the house, but so is mad scientist Dumbrille who wants to transplant Hall's brain into the skull of a large, hairy gorilla. Eventually the boys manage to anesthetize the doc and his helpers, allowing them to get away. Pretty funny as Bowery Boys movies go. The first directed by William "One Shot" Beaudine, who would end up with a staggering 25 "Bowery Boys" films to his credit.
