Special Forces Reviews

Reviewed By: Buzz McClain

This impressive, if modest, variation of The Dirty Dozen is amazingly zippy entertainment, with polished action set pieces climaxing every sequence. The abundance of ordinance that's detonated in this production is enough to satisfy most action fans, but an engaging cast, Hong Kong-style martial arts, target-rich battle scenes, and a pedal-to-the-medal story put it over the top. There's an impressive helicopter battle, a nifty tank fight, espionage intrigue, and lots of things that go boom to amuse the undemanding action fan. Originally called "Black Sea Raid" in 1997, the biggest drawback is the murky film stock which makes every scene far darker than it should be.
