Julia Roberts heads a fine ensemble cast in this genial 1995 comedy. She plays Grace Bichon, a Southerner who spots her husband (Dennis Quaid) kissing another woman. Disgusted and fed up, she flees her home and moves in with her rich father and mother. Robert Duvall, Gena Rowlands, Kyra Sedgwick.

Something to forget about. In this painfully contrived comedy of Southern manners, Julia Roberts's waning star power finally winks out; her trademark coltishness doesn't enhance the uneasily fused sensibilities of director Lasse Hallstrom (MY LIFE AS A DOG, WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE) and briefly celebrated screenwriter Callie Khouri (THELMA AND LOUISE). Julia plays a wealthy horse breeder married to philandering Dennis Quaid (whose career has just been admitted to the ICU); the plot is a frayed string of old-movie tropes lifted from Tennessee Williams and NATIONAL VELVET. The incomparable Gena Rowlands, as Julia's mom, isn't given much to do.
