At a Jamaican beach hotel, super-slick waiter and self-professed "stud" Ringo works the angles (and there are many) on the ever-presents knots of unsuspecting, trusting tourists. Hey, all's fair in love and business ... especially when you're continuously on the hustle, like Ringo.

A sort of follow-up to the very successful THE HARDER THEY COME (1973), Bradshaw is a resort hotel worker who has developed a system to take advantage of naive white tourists. The gritty film techniques that gave THE HARDER THEY COME a sense of immediacy get a bit irritating in SMILE ORANGE, making the viewer want to cry out for an audible soundtrack and focused images.
