Roommates Reviews

The kind of movie people say Hollywood doesn't make anymore, ROOMMATES is a truly heartwarming film about the lifelong relationship between irascible old Rocky (Peter Falk) and his orphaned grandson Michael (D.B. Sweeney). At the age of 75, Rocky takes in the five-year-old Michael when the rest of the family wants to send him to an orphanage. Twenty years later, roles are reversed, and Michael has to make room for granddaddy. It sounds more sweetly life-affirming than a normal person could stand, but director Peter Yates, working from an autobiographical screenplay by Max Apple, makes it emotionally plausible and surisingly palatable.
