Ride on Vaquero Reviews

Romero rides for the last time in the CISCO KID series he did for 20th Century-Fox. Here the Kid is after some kidnapers who are using his name in their nefarious deeds. In between the action, gun play, and eventual rounding up of the baddies, Romero finds a moment or two for romance with Hughes, a lusty vibrant dancehall girl. RIDE ON VAQUERO is an exciting programmer with plenty of action and a well-paced direction. Though the high standards were maintained throughout Romero's entries in the series, this version of the CISCO KID never really caught on with the public. The series came to an abrupt ending when Romero was drafted into the Army. Fox heads looked for a suitable replacement but finding none, decided to kill the series altogether. However the kid made a triumphant return when Monogram revived him for their own series beginning with THE CISCO KID RETURNS in 1945.
