Joe Bearclaws, a half-breed American Indian, escapes from prison after being convicted of murder and is pursued by the dutiful Ranger Howard. After Howard catches Joe, who claims to be innocent, Joe is framed for another murder, prompting the two of them to pursue the real murderer.

Kennedy plays a Cherokee Indian who is framed for murder and breaks out of jail. Hale plays a Ranger who follows him back to the Cherokee reservation. Hale learns of a plot by ranchers to get at the land granted to the Indians, and also discovers that actor Morrow disguised himself as an Indian and committed the murder. Hale and Kennedy team up to fight off Barcroft and company.
