Q Planes Reviews

A WW II espionage picture with a generous injection of comedy, this film follows Scotland Yarder Charles Hammond (Richardson) as he investigates the disappearance of a number of bombers during their test flights. No one believes the eccentric Hammond's far-fetched theories except his sister Kay (Hobson), who enlists the help of test pilot Tony McVane (Olivier) in order to prove Hammond right. The espionage angle is filled with scientific mumbo-jumbo about powerful radio beams that can practically yank a plane out of the air, but the film is more of a light comedy/romance, of interest mainly for the early Olivier/Richardson pairing.
